BILLY BLACKWOOD has spent the majority of his life in music ministry. Billy's dad, James, was one of theĀ  original members of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet. The Blackwood Brothers began in Mississippi in the 1930's and have taken gospel music around the world.

Billy began traveling with his dad's group as a child, making the career switch to secular music in the mid-seventies as part of an opening act with the Elvis Presley show. The realities of that lifestyle were enough to convince Billy he didn't want what the world was offering and he rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and came back to Christian music first with renowned singer/songwriter and good friend, Gordon Jensen, and later with his cousin, Terry, and Sherman Andrus as Benson recording artists Andrus, Blackwood, & Co.

In 1985 Billy began traveling in solo ministry. In addition to ministering in churches and concerts across the US and Canada, Billy has also been on dozens of missions trips in Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica, England, Russia, Ukraine, and most recently, Ecuador (see News).

In his home church, Billy led a worship team of approximately 40 members, many of whom are professional musicians who have dedicated their talent to the Lord. The team recorded a live worship project called "Billy Blackwood & Friends - Press Into His Presence" which is available in CD and Audiocassette here at our website.
